Nature of remnants at Kiradu and their spread clearly indicates that the complex is not just a collection of a few standing temples and ruins, it is an ancient settlement with human habitation spreading across several centuries. Epigraphical and literary sources corroborate the above stance and provide a glimpse of the ancient city of Kiratkoopbetween the 11th and 14th centuries highlighting the story of its prosperity, destruction, revival as a centre of Jain religion and final desertion.
